Our Thanksgiving Day view from the heavenly-scented kitchen of Mary Barton and Kelsey Milner is a clear, crisp one of Sapphire Mountains on the far east side of the Bitterroot Valley.

| My contribution: A carrot/sweet potato puree (with butter, nutmeg, cayenne, creme fraiche -- baby food for grown ups). |

| Outside the next evening, we walk Main Street as stores stay open late and corner barrel-fires keep crowds warm. |

| But we vere back to orange for the rest of the holiday season. Our newly painted orange front door gets a cheapo wreath which I deck with fat pine cones (from Eric Milner's hill) and orange berries from a neighbor's downed shrub. |
